The Blacklight Virus
The Blacklight Virus; a man made super-disease, created originally for bioweapons testing. Those infected with the virus are usually turned into horrific monsters, which forget all other objects of nourishment and go straight for a living organism's flesh without prejudice. Eyewitnesses describe these creatures as 'walking corpses', or simply 'a large animal of some sort'.
However, there are very few whom undergo an adverse reaction to the virus. The effects on this particular group are still being researched, as the entirety of it all is yet to be understood. What we know so far, is that those infected with this special strain will become a rampant being of immense power. These infectees are known as Evolved. Capable of keeping up with an automotive on foot, their strength is unparalelled by the average human being. Those subject to the Evolved strain can change their shape at will, to an unknown degree. The Evolved are very hard to kill, having proven their durability time and time again. Bullets seem to either bounce off, or be absorbed. After the smoke clears from an explosion, there stands the Evolved, seemingly unharmed.
Nightfire is one such Evolved.
The Blacklight Virus imbues one with immortality, due to its extensive regeneration factor. Through the manipulation of biomass, the Blacklight restores any and cellular tissue that was damaged. An infectee of any sort will always have some form of biomass reproduction, either through cell division or acquiring mass through consumption. Only when Evolved consume a living being, however, may they be able to access both form, and memories.
As you can imagine, the former biomass production method is much slower than consumption, but still effective.
The Blacklight Virus is highly mutable, meaning that it can take on other attributes if they are introduced. Being a virus, however, mutations are bound to occur somewhere along the line as adaptations to increase survivability rate.
Evolved can manipulate their biomass into any shape they desire.

Nightfire wasn't always a shape shifting maelstrom of death, but he was originaly a fox of the typical variety. From around the world, the people of Gentek pulled various zoo animals from their habitats, to test different strains of the Blacklight Virus.
Nightfire's strain made him into what we know today, as an Evolved. Breaking out of his containment, the still-feral vulpine consumed one Doctor Malcolm Brown, a scientist responsible for creating him, and then gained his form and memories with an understanding as to what he is. Now, Nightfire desperately seeks a cure for his affliction, but isn't afraid to tear down anyone in his path.
Will he be able to find his cure, before he loses his mind to countless others that he consumed?
